1. Information We Collect

When you use Modex, we collect: (a) authentication data via Clerk, our authentication provider, including your email address and display name; (b) file uploads you submit for processing (PDFs, images, audio, text documents); (c) chat messages describing your desired operations; and (d) your email address if you sign up for the beta waitlist.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your uploaded files and messages are processed exclusively to fulfill your requested operations. Beta signup emails are stored to manage access to the platform. We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising purposes. We do not train AI models on your uploaded content.

3. Third-Party Processing

Modex uses the Google Gemini API to interpret your requests and determine file operations. Your chat messages and file metadata may be transmitted to Google's servers for AI inference. File content itself is processed locally on our servers whenever possible. By using this service, you acknowledge this data pipeline. Authentication is handled by Clerk.

4. 24-Hour Purge Cycle

All chat sessions, uploaded files, and processed outputs are permanently deleted from our database and file system within 24 hours of creation. This applies to all user data except beta signup email addresses, which are retained for access management. Once deleted, data cannot be recovered.

5. Data Storage

Data is stored in MongoDB and on the local file system of our servers. Files are organized in isolated directories per conversation. We do not use cloud object storage. All data is stored transiently with automatic cleanup enforced by our retention system.

6. Security

We implement authentication via Clerk, CORS restrictions, and isolated file contexts per conversation. API endpoints are secured and validated. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. You use the service at your own risk. If you discover a security vulnerability, please contact us immediately.

7. Your Rights

Given our 24-hour automatic purge, data deletion requests are inherently fulfilled. For beta signup removal, you may request deletion of your email by contacting us. You have the right to know what data we hold, which is limited to what is described in this policy.
